	Fruits and vegetables are food for the body and soul. Flowers are food for the spirit. Southwestern Michigan leads the nation in production of annual bedding plants. I used to spend my winters working in family owned commercial greenhouses. While outside it was cold and gray inside it was warm and blooming. At Diamond Acres Farm, we have chosen to specialize in hardy perennials. We have seen a movement away from mass plantings of annuals to a better use of perennials. This season we will be offering over 35 varieties sold in one gallons pots. If you have a scorching sunny spot, or a deeply shady spot, we have a perennial for that. If you read our "About Us" page you learn that Sue attended Oregon State University and then worked at several market farms in the Corvallis Oregon area. The Willamette Valley of Oregon is a plant lovers paradise. Their farmers markets are a slice of heaven to wander through. One idea I brought back after my last sojourn was to try a fresh cut flower garden. We have always offered fresh cut bouquets This year we will give people a chance to either cut your own flowers or to buy precut flowers to arrange your own bouquets. My Director of Marketing thinks I am nuts but we'll see.
